Nestled high on the southern slopes of Mount Nittany above the historic village of Linden Hall, Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery commands a breathtaking view across the valley to the distant Tussey Mountain Range. Just seven miles east of State College and Penn State University, the vineyard and winery are located in the heart of 65 acres of land which stretches to the top of Mount Nittany.
The winery was opened for business in July of 1990 by proprietors, Joe and Betty Carroll, who had been amateur winemakers for 20 years during Joe’s career as a professor in the College of Business Administration at Penn State.
Here at Mt. Nittany Vineyard and Winery we offer a variety of award-winning wines to suit all tastes, from dry to sweet and everything in between. Dry red wines include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot; dry white include Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. Our most popular off-dry wines are Nittany Mountain White and Tailgate Red. We also sell sweeter wines, including Lion Country Blush and Mountain Mist, several fruit wines and our new port-style wine, Vermelho.

All of our Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail Association members are small, family-owned wineries, operated independently. Each has a unique experience and rich history and provides their own original touches that reflect the many varieties of wine offered. Wineries each host events and are open to the public at varying hours. Some will offer food and entertainment at different times throughout the year. Most, if not all, wineries will participate in our annual events. To ensure you have the best possible experience at each of our wineries during your time in the Susquehanna Heartland, we encourage you to visit each winery’s profile page and individual website. You are also encouraged to call the wineries directly to ask specific questions about winery entertainment, hours, policies and wine selections. We do our best to ensure current and accurate information about all Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail Association participating wineries. But unfortunately, accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Thanks for visiting!
