Remember grandma's homemade cookies at Christmas? There was flour and sugar and eggs and the kitchen smelled so good. It was the one time of the year that the whole family would gather and reminisce about the 'good ol' days'.
A Heartland Christmas wants to celebrate those days with a different cookie cutter and recipe from each of the Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail wineries.
Get a grapevine wreath and glass at your first winery stop, along with a cookie cutter and recipe. The wreath can hold all the cookie cutters on your journey, and you will have some great cookie recipes for this holiday season. Of course, there is some great wines to taste and purchase along the way.

The Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail (SHWT) was founded in 2003 when 5 wineries located near the Susquehanna River and the Juniata River tributaries joined together to market their unique region of Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail has since grown to include 15 wineries. As grape growers and wine makers, the SHWT benefits from the unique soil and climate of the region, while visitors reap the benefits of our toils by enjoying our variety of award-winning wines. All this makes the Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail a great place for travel, adventure and wine!
Choose from award winning wines including Pinot Noir, Riesling, Lemberger, Merlot, Traminette, Chambourcin, Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Niagra and Vidal Blanc.
In addition the wineries produce a variety of fruit wines such as: Apple, Blackberry, Blueberry, Cantaloupe/Honeydew Melon, Cherry, Cranberry, Elderberry, Orange, Peach, Pineapple, Plum, Red Raspberry, Rhubarb and Strawberry.
In general our region offers a slice of Americana with its small town atmosphere and affinity for local business promotion. Enjoy a long weekend or a short day trip by jumping from winery to winery, all the while stopping in-between to explore the unique local restaurants and shops. Be sure to check out individual wineries’ websites for listings of their events. We promise an unforgettable experience, one that you will want to repeat year after year!
All of our Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail Association members are small, family-owned wineries, operated independently. Each has a unique experience and rich history and provides their own original touches that reflect the many varieties of wine offered. Wineries each host events and are open to the public at varying hours. Some will offer food and entertainment at different times throughout the year. Most, if not all, wineries will participate in our annual events. To ensure you have the best possible experience at each of our wineries during your time in the Susquehanna Heartland, we encourage you to visit each winery’s profile page and individual website. You are also encouraged to call the wineries directly to ask specific questions about winery entertainment, hours, policies and wine selections. We do our best to ensure current and accurate information about all Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail Association participating wineries. But unfortunately, accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Thanks for visiting!
